About Me:

My name is Joe Copeland. I am almost 10 years married to my beautiful high school sweet-heart, Lorna, and father to the most perfect little three-year-old, Presleigh Jo. I grew up in Eastland, Texas and finished my Exercise Physiology degree at Hardin Simmons University in Abilene.

What aspect of your job do you enjoy the most?

My job is VERY rewarding. I get to see people’s lives changed dramatically every single day. The fact that I get to play a small part in that is very gratifying. I love helping people lose weight but my favorite thing is when a client tells me how they were able to get in the floor with their grandbabies and get back up or chase their kids around without getting winded. To me, that’s true wellness. I also LOVE building relationships with our members and getting to know them on a personal level. We truly do have a family here and are invested in each other’s lives. It’s so much fun!

Your role at Faith Community Health System:

I was hired in 2014 as the Wellness Director to help FCH build, plan, and implement our beautiful Swan Family Wellness Center. So before the wellness center opened I stayed busy by planning everything that goes into the wellness center, running bootcamps, Zumba classes, and personal training sessions out of Twin Lakes Activity Center. Once we opened the doors of SFWC, we already had a huge following and just continued to build our base here! Since then, I’ve continued to oversee operations of the wellness center, train clients one-on-one, coach clients virtually, teach classes, community outreach and education, wellness challenges, and other duties as assigned!

What do you like to do in your spare time?

What is spare time?? Lol

Whenever I’m not playing with PJ, I love any sort of outdoor activity! Golf, disc golf, slow-pitch softball, ultimate Frisbee, etc…I’m also not one to turn down a good Netflix series binge! I am also a musician so I enjoy playing any type of music on my guitar or bass!

Do you have any sort of special talents or gifts?

Like I said previously, I am also a musician. In high school, I was in a Christian rock band called Unleaded. I played the electric guitar and “screamed”. We were actually really good and were able to professionally record two CD’s. After high school we split ways and a few of us started playing worship music. We played in youth camps and retreats all over Texas and couple camps in New Mexico and Colorado. Music is definitely one of my biggest passions.

Job qualifications and certifications?

I am a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, an industry gold standard certification for the fitness, wellness, and performance world. I also have specialty certifications in Fitness Nutrition, Functional Movement, Functional Training, and Lifestyle Medicine. In a world FULL of false and misguided “fitness advice” (from Instagram mainly), continuing my education and learning updated science is very important to me!

Words to the community:

I am so blessed to be a small part of the Jacksboro community. Even though I don’t live here, I truly feel like a part of the Jacksboro family. I’ve loved getting to know people and have made lifelong friends! Thank you, Jacksboro, for accepting this Eastland Maverick into your town! If you need any help at all with your health and wellness, I’d love to help you!
