Faith Community Health System recognizes National Doctors’ Day on March 30.
Medical providers are the cornerstone of every hospital and clinic, providing essential services to keep our communities healthy. To celebrate the fantastic work of our local physicians, Faith Community Health System (FCHS) is honoring local physicians on March 30 as part of a nation-wide observance of National Doctors’ Day.
If there is one thing the past two years have taught us, it is how fortunate we are to have physicians available locally,” says Frank L. Whether our patients were dealing with COVID-19 or a myriad of other conditions, the medical professionals at FCHS never skipped a beat in treating and caring for our communities!
National Doctors’ Day was first observed on March 30, 1933. Inspired by the anniversary of the first use of anesthesia by Dr. Crawford W. Long in 1842, Eudora Brown Almond, wife of Dr. Charles B. Almond, proposed the celebration to show appreciation for doctors everywhere.
The U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution in 1958 to commemorate the occasion. With congressional approval in 1990, President George H.W. Bush signed a resolution officially designating March 30 as National Doctors’ Day.
FCHS has had a long history of serving the communities we are located in. Tracing its roots back to the late 1950s, the regional healthcare provider has remained resilient by continually growing to meet local medical needs. In addition to family practice, physicians offer medical services in a variety of specialties at the hospital and four rural health clinics in Jacksboro, Bowie, Alvord, and Graham.
