Chalmers fills vacant position on Faith Community Health System Board of Directors
JACKSBORO, Texas (Oct. 26, 2020) – The Faith Community Health System (FCHS) Board of Directors welcomes Leslie Chalmers as its newest board member. Chalmers was sworn in on Oct. 26, appointed to fill the position left vacant from long-time board member Shelley Owen.
“Having known Shelley for many years, I am both sadden of her departure and proud of her more than 25 years serving on the FCHS Board of Directors,” says FCHS Board President Lori McBrayer. “Shelley has exemplified what it means to be an active and impactful board member, and we will always be grateful for her contributions over the years.”
Board members are stewards of the local hospital district. Responsible for the general oversight of FCHS and its associated facilities, the Board of Directors ensures quality patient care remains high while operating as a business in a fiscally responsible manner.
Owen resigned her position on the board earlier in the year, citing a lack of available time due to increased attention needed professionally for her work.
Chalmers graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing in 1999 from McMurry University in Abilene, Texas.
The Jacksboro native brings an extensive 21-year background in business development, sales, nonprofit marketing, public relations, and fundraising. She has worked with organizations such as the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Goodwill West Texas, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, American Heart Association, Weatherford Christian School, Jacksboro Chamber of Commerce, and most recently the Jacksboro Economic Development Corporation – where she currently serves as the organization’s executive director.
Over her career, Chalmers raised more than $8 million for these different organizations through marketing, donor relations, and business development. She is also the owner and consultant of special events planning and fundraising company, Divine Order Events and Consulting, which educates nonprofit organizations on executing successful events and campaigns.
She currently serves on the advisory board for Grace House Ministries in Weatherford, the Nortex Economic Development District advisory board, the North Texas Agricultural Alliance Group, the Texas Workforce Commission board, the Jacksboro Ag Youth Supporters board, the Jacksboro Booster Club as treasurer, and the Jacksboro Ex-Students Association. Chalmers is a member of the Jacksboro Lions Club and has been the Jean Bryan Marketing Award recipient. She currently serves as president of the Faith Community Hospital Charitable Foundation Board. It is anticipated that she will remain in that capacity as the hospital boards representative to the foundation.
She is a member of the Texas Economic Development Corporation, the International Economic Development Corporation, the Southern Economic Development Council, the Texas Downtown Association, the Business Retention and Expansion International, and the Texas Midwest Communities Network. She is also a 2019 graduate of the Leadership Texas Women’s Program.
Chalmers and her husband, Stewart, resides locally with their two children Rylan and Rachael.
“It is an extreme honor to be nominated to fill such incredible shoes left behind by Mrs. Owen,” Chalmers says. “I love serving my community and being able to be part of a skilled group of professionals on the FCHS Board of Directors.”
